SLAY THE RAIL

Bike: BMX's - stacks of them!
Location: Revolver Upstairs Chapel St
Owners: Groms

You may remember this post that we did about the first bmx comp to be held in a nightclub. Well the boys are back for this years installment, and I didn't have to scoot off early to pack for Splendour this year. Bonus!

Ever since my camera was stolen I made a promise to myself, and to you our 3 loyal readers, that I wouldn't resort to posting dodgy iPhone snaps however these were just too good to pass up.

So many bikes, not nearly enough poles.

The obligatory safety warning. A flying BMX will hurt if it flies through the air and lands on your face.

I kinda wish that a flying bike hit these two classy ladies, who were clearly there because they are so passionate about BMX. I like your dress, is that from GASP?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Want.

Here is a video that was not taken with my phone:

VANS BMX... OW MY NECK

Bike: 20" Vans BMX
Location: Chapel St Windsor
Owner: Hot Grom named GULLIVER... Cool Name!

Loz and I snapped this little grommie walking up the end of The Chap. My neck is still a bit tender from snapping it so hard.

Kids take note: It's never too early to have a rad bike. You have to be born with steeze though.

They don't sell that shit at Strictly BMX

GIANT BMX

Bike: Giant BMX
Location: Elgin St, Carlton
Owner: TBC, email us if this is YOU!

Um... sorry to break it to you giant BMX: You ain't that giant. Actually you are pretty small.

This bike is cool, but it has a bad case of
small man syndrome.

Like how Tom Cruise apparently never allowed 'Our' Nicole to wear high heels, or those rockabilly type of short dudes that wear those horrendous shoes with the lifts in them.

My lord how I hate those ugly, ugly shoes.

Get ready for your close up:

SLAY RAMPS

Some genius built a ramp in Dissolver. Loz Burger and I went in for a peep. It was totally awesome. Unfortunately we had to leave early because we went off the Splendour in the Grass the next day.

THANKS to what ever legend made this highlight video. I feel like I was there the whole night... swilling Stella's with the honeys.

CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN

Bike: Chrome BMX "Villain"
Location: Lygon St, Carlton
Owner: Is mean

This bike has been chained to this bus timetable sign for like almost a week now.
Have you no respect Mr Owner? Or did you leave it there when you realised that you couldn't ride home, and now you can't remember where it is?

It's Autumn in Melbourne. Note the build up of leaves in the spokes. I might have to rescue this pup by way of bolt cutters if its still there next week. I can practically hear it weeping.

RADDEST BMX EVER?

Bike: Tri-colour Chrome BMX Hotness
Location: Chapel St Windsor
Owner: Pete

Pete and I live in the same neighborhood. I have seen him a few times on this sweet ride.
Last time I saw him he was crossing Dandenong road and we each checked each others bikes and gave a head nod as if to give an unstated sign of mutual respect. I love a guy that has a mutual love of the Tuff.

So when I saw him parked at Mothers Milk one night, I did a quick Uturn and was lucky enough to meet Pete and take these snaps.

Wow this bike blew my mind.

Nice one Pete!

HONEY TO THE BEE

Bike: AirStrike Free Agent

Location: Brunswick St Fitzroy
Owner: TBC. Email us if this is YOU!

Some may call the colour of this bike Tan. Others Caramel, Honey, Gold even. I'd say it's more of a poo colour.

This was spotto'd on Anzac Day holiday. We had been walking for a good 2hrs by this time, and this was the first bmx we saw. WTF Melbourne?

Nice pegs.

Has everyone laid their bmx to rest now fixed gear bikes are de jour?
I give props to all rad bikes, but bmx is automatically so much radder than anything else.

DWI!

Maybe someone should make a ad like that where's the beef? lady, except make it where's the bmx?

THE GARY COLEMAN

Bike: 20" Black Beauty
Location: Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne
Owner: TBC: Email us if this is YOU!

This bike is nice. It is short, black and a lil' stumpy.
If this bike were a tv character it would totally be Arnold in Diff'rent Strokes.

Whatcha talkin bout Willis?

Sometimes I wish that I had a catchphrase.

The X-factor True Structure Mags? Holy Moley!

The thing that first caught my eye about this little beauty was the those Three Spoke Mags. They are tough.

Gary Coleman is not tough. After his success as a child actor he
sued his parents and former manager over his $3.8 million trust fund.
He won a almost $1.3 mil in 93 then filed for bankrupcy 6 years later... Way to Go Gary!

MR. MATT HAS A HOTTT BMX

Owner: Matt
Bike: 80's chrome diamondback feat. Skyway Tuffs
Location: Preston

This is our friend Matt's bike. He's a rad dude that we first met at the Phrase show last year. This bike is RAAAAAD. Heart the colour co-ordination between the wheel & fork. Nice 1 Matt!

WEB: http://www.rad-dudes.com/

Owner: Matt
Bike: 80's chrome Repco HOTFOOT

Location: Preston

Another killer bike owned by Matt.

In cycling, the condition known as “hot foot” is a burning pain in the ball of the foot, perhaps radiating toward the toes. Severe cases feel like some sadistic demon is applying a blowtorch.

This is not that kind of Hotfoot though!

Repco have the trademark Hotfoot which is registered until 2014. Who knows, we might see a Hotfoot bike again one day.

OUR FRIEND KEEGAN

Went to the Espy last night for the M-Phazes album launch. Extreme fun.
After that the night started:

Our friend Sara is totally the best. She introduced us to this guy Keegan, who she works with at Hype. We have befriended.

He's off to NY, LA then the UKays and last night was his going away party.
We tried to do the phantom and they busted us out the front of the house.

Bike: BEE EMM EXX 'Fatboy'

FRIDAY FUN

So, after last nights little adventures, I was feeling a little fragile at work this morning and after lunch this had just evolved in to sillyness.
My boss told me that I "had officially lost the plot".

So it was lovely to get this kick ass pick me up in the afternoon.

Thanks to my workmate Luke who sent through these pics of his friends bmx.

Bike: Hotness BMX
Location: In a grassy backyard somewhere
Owner: Tom

So this is the 1st pic that I opened. I thought, yeah it's rad. Classic. But you can tell from how shiny the sprocket is that it's a well loved bike.

THEN... I opened the second pic and this hotness appeared:
Wow wow wow. That's so hot.
Best bmx I have seen for a loooooooooooooong time.
Props Tom.

Thanks Luke!

BEN FROST BMX

Bike: Chrome 20" BMX
Location: Ben Frost Exhibition Opening, Gorker Gallery, Fitzroy
Owner: TBC. Email us if this is YOU!

Such a gorgeous night last night in ol' Melbourne town. Loz and I booted over to "the other side of the Yarra" to peep the Ben Frost exhibition opening.
Out the front of the gallery was this cute lil sucker... was quite surprised that this would be the first fresh bike to catch my eye as Fitzroy is usually abundant with fixies and couriers pimpin Crumper bags.

Nice Chrome Job. TICK!

I need to invest in a bell or horn for my bike, STAT. Whenever its too many drinks past riding on the road and you need to tell peeps to get the fuck out of the way this would really come in handy. These days, I just like to vocalise it. "DING, DING, DING! My name is Sim! OUTTA DE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"

The basket says: "Although I have a BMX, I also value functuality" Notice how the grips match the chain:
Good Style. TICK!

Come to think of it, this bike could be like the cool lil sister of my bike. 'Cept my chain and grips are pink. Nice, nice.

Finally I would like to draw your attention to the crafty way this rider has fashioned the backlight. Whoever this person is, they would totally win if they ever went on Survivor.
